

Surfers from around the world competed for prize money and tour points in the UKPSA’s North East Surf Open, at Tynemouth Longsands.
For the second year running, Russell Winter took first spot. The Newquay based former World Championship Tour surfer dominated the final with big powerful turns as he excelled in the Tynemouth surf conditions.
Finishing second was Joss Ash with his best result of the year. Third place went to French surfer Gordon Fontaine, and fourth to South African Ruebin Pearce, 2008 UK Pro Surf Tour Champion.
In the Pro Junior division, Newquay surfer and reigning Pro Junior Champion Lewis Clinton took the honours in a very close fought heat. Second place went to Lyndon Wake from Croyde. While third position went to Aaron Evans and fourth to Sam Scoble.
